GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. It has grown into a worldwide opportunity for local communities to come together on one day to support nonprofits in their community. GivingTuesday each year is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving; this year it falls on November 28, 2023.
For our GivingTuesday initiative this year, we are gathering funds to commission and celebrate new works from women composers for our 18th season. Women have had great success in closing the gender gap in literatuer and the visual arts, but for some reason there is still a wide gender gap in musical arts, especially choral composition. The mission of the Carolyn Eynon Singers is to elevate North American choral music, with a special focus on featuring female composers.
We are seeking $5,000 to commission at least one new choral composition written by a female North American composer for our 18th season. Be a part of helping us uplift women’s voices and donate today!
Learn about women composers and theorists from the Medieval era through the 21st Century. Read their histories, listen to their compositions, and learn about their contributions to the world of music.
